1. Season

:

Suitable for growing in the monsoon season under rainfed condition.

2. Soil

:

All types of soils with good drainage.

3. Preparatory cultivation

:

Plough 2 to 3 times to obtain a good tilth and form beds and channels convenient size.

4. Manures and fertilizers

:

6. Spacing

7. Weed Management

:

Hand weeding whenever necessary.

Mostly grown under rainfed condition

10. Harvest

:

First harvest 6 months after sowing. Subsequent harvests 60 days depending upon the growth

11. Green fodder yield

:

Irrigated: 80-100 t/ha/year
Rainfed:  40 t/ha/year

Seed Treatment: To get better germination seeds must be treated in hot water at 800C for 5 minutes (boiling water removed from the flame and kept for 4 minutes to attain 800C). After hot water treatment seeds should be washed with cold water and soaked in cold water over a night. Seeds should be shade dried before sowing
