Multi-crop fodder production model for small and marginal farmers

• Area required for fodder cultivation-10 cents.
• Cumbu Napier grass – 4 cents
• Fodder Sorghum - COFS.29 – 3 cents
• Hedge Lucerne – 3 cents
• Total green fodder production per year is 10.5 tonnes (7 harvest/year) and per day fodder  production is 25-30 kg
• One Dairy cow yielding  10 litres of milk or  five Goat can be  fed with green fodder throughout the year
• Reduce the cost of concentrate feed (Rs.50/day)

Economics:

• Cost of cultivation: Rs.3,000/-
• Gross income :Rs. 13000
• Net income : Rs.10,000 (Based on fodder value)
• No. of farmers adopted: 85
