A new department in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, the Department of Market Extension, under the Directorate of Extension Education is functioning from 14.05.2008.
Mandates:
- To promote commodity based Farmers’ Interest Groups.
- To promote institutional linkages for the Commodity Interest Groups for efficient marketing.
- Organizing workshops on market linkages and facilitating Buyer – Seller Meets.
- To scout the market information and share it with all the Krishi Vigyan Kendras and line departments.
- To impart master training to the extension personnel on market forces, intelligence and information systems.
- To provide training on marketing management to the line department officials.
