Soil and climate
Well drained red and sandy loam soils under tropical conditions are suitable.

Season of planting
The planting spreads from June to November.

Propagation and planting
Layers or rooted cuttings are planted in 30 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm pits dug at 1.5 x 1.5 m spacing to accommodate 4400 plants per ha.

Semi hard wood cuttings (15 - 20 cm long).

Field preparation and planting

Soil is well pulverized upto a good depth. Rooted cuttings are planted in 30 x 30 x 30 cm size pits dug at 1.5 x 1.5 m spacing (4400 plants per ha).

Manuring

FYM @ 10 kg/pit is applied before planting. NPK @ 120:240:120 g/plant/year is applied in 6 splits at bimonthly intervals. The first split dose should be given immediately after pruning.

Micronutrients

Foliar spray ofZnSO4@ 0.25% + MgSO4@ 0.5% + FeSO4@ 0.5% (In case of expression of micronutrient deficiency, spraying should be done at fortnightly intervals until the chlorotic symptoms disappear).

Biofertilizers: Soil application of2 kg each of Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria per ha at the time of planting. It is to be mixed with 100kg of FYM and applied in pits.

Pruning
The bushes are pruned to 45 cm height from ground level during the last week of January.

Spray Wettable Sulphur 50 WP @ 2 g/l or Propargite 57 % EC @ 2ml/l or   Fenazaquin 10 % EC @ 2 ml/l

Leaf eating caterpillar
Leaf eating caterpillar can be controlled by spraying Quinalphos 25 EC 2 ml/lit.

Season of flowering and harvest
Flowering extends from April to November. Fully developed unopened flower buds should be picked in the morning hours.

Yield
Flowers: 10 t/ha; concrete recovery: 0.25 - 0.28%.
