PUMPKIN
  • Storing of pumpkin seeds in dried fruit storage containers. After completely drying the fresh fruits, the inner pump and seeds are removed. Then the seeds selected for storage are mixed with ash and placed inside the fruit container. The entrance is covered with moist red earth and a small hole is made for aeration.

BOTTLE GOURD

  • Store of seeds by sun drying them with fruit itself, as the dried fruits act as a storage container.
  • Soak the seeds in water and wrapping in a moist cotton cloth to enhance the germination of Bottle gourd.
  • Practice of stripping the lateral branches induces formation of more number of such lateral branches and ensures good quality gourds.

CABBAGE

  • Frequent weeding in the cabbage nursery for better establishment of cabbage plants in nursery and main field.
  • Frequent weeding in the cabbage main field for getting matured heads earlier.
  • Spray of the spray solution made of the mixture of ash and cattle urine on the cabbage plants to control leaf hoppers.
  • Application of 1.5 kg lime mixed in 2 – 3 litres of buttermilk and weekly intervals by using broomstick to control cabbage caterpillar.
  • Hoist five-balled sticks in the cabbage fields at an interval of 20' to control insect pest attack on cabbage.

RADISH

  • Raise the Radish crop after potato needs little expense because of the loose soil after digging the potato tubers.
  • Raise radish as a rainfed crop comes up well by utilizing the available residual moisture in the field.
  • Raise radish after the potato requires no manures or fertilizers because of the residual fertilizers and manures available in the field.
  • Wash of the harvested radish tubers with water for better shipping.

BEET ROOT

  • Raise Beet root as an intercrop with carrot requires little individual care, as the operations done for carrot itself is enough for beet root.
  • Selection of big seeds having better striving for seed purpose.
  • The stripping of beet root tubers indicates good quality.
