Kudampuli Camboge – (Carcinia Cambogia)
“Kudampuli” is a large sized, long-lived, evergreen tall tree with a spreading crown. The pulp is edible, used as souring agent for squashes, chutney in beverages, and in general cooking. Ideal soil type is deep loamy soil with adequate moisture. This condition prevails in Kanyakumari district. Flowering is seen in September-October. Fully riped fruits are come to harvest in March – April. The yield ranges from 120-150 kg of pods/ear/tree. Acidity of the fruits is lesser than Tamarindus indicus. The fruits are similar to orange, with has flesh in many numbers of edible juicy flakes.
