Mothchaipayaru (Lab Lab)
It is grown in Vadavathure village of Namakkal district and the seeds are sown in December. The yield is 6 per acre (one bag is 50 kg). the seed rate is 1 kg/acre. As the soil is sandy in nature, water will percolate into deeper layers. So only rain fed sowing is possible in this crop. It has twining quality, so it is not used as intercrop with any other crops. The seeds are collected from the harvested grains and it is kept upto one year without addition of any chemicals. The crop is mainly used as cattle feed.
