Varieties

   • CO 8, VBN 4, VBN5, VBN6

Season

   • June - July; September - October; December - January and February - March

Field preparation

   • Prepare the land to get fine tilth and form beds and channels

Seed rate

   • 20 kg/ha

Seed treatment with biocontrol agents

   • Treat the seeds with biocontrol agent viz., Trichoderma asperellum @ 4 g / kg or Bacillus subtilis @ 10 g / kg of seed

Seed treatment with biofertilizers

   • Treat the seeds with 600 g of Rhizobium and 600 g of Phosphobacteria using rice gruel as binder

Sowing

   • Dibble the seeds adopting a spacing of 30 x 10 cm

Nutrient Management

   • Apply vermicompost @ 1.25 t/ha along with Rhizobium @ 2 kg/ha, phosphobacteria @ 2 kg/ha before sowing
  • Foliar spray of panchagavya @ 3% on 30 and 45 days after sowing

Water Management

   • Irrigate immediately after sowing, followed by life irrigation on the third day
  • Irrigate at intervals of 7 to 10 days depending upon soil and climatic conditions
  • Flowering and pod formation stages are critical periods when irrigation is a must
  • Avoid water stagnation at all stages
Weed management

   • Two hand weeding on 15 and 30 days after sowing

Crop Protection

   • For the management of sucking pests and pod borer complex, spray neem oil 3% or Neem seed Kernel Extract 5% or Ginger-Garlic and Green chilli (3G) extract 5% as prophylactic spray
  • For the management of diseases of green gram, soil application of Trichodermaasperellum or Bacillus subtilis @ 2.5 kg/ha; Spraying of NSKE 5% or neem oil 3% twice at 10 days interval from initial disease symptom appearance; Foliar application of Bacillus subtilis @ 0.5%
  • For the management of yellow mosaic, leaf crinkle and leaf curl viruses, rouging of infected plants, management of vectors by spraying the neem formulations viz., NSKE 5% or neem oil 3%, foliar application of highly fermented buttermilk @ 10% along with 0.5 % Bacillus subtilis, followed by foliar application of 3% panchagavya

Harvesting

   • Harvest the pods at physiological maturity (30 days after the 50 per cent flowering) when the colour of majority of the pods (80%) turns black.

Yield

   • 850 to 1000 kg/ha.
