Forage Crops :: Chopping
CHOPPING Length of the cut sections affects the packing and the quality of the silage. Chopping forage crops into 1 to 2 cm length is ideal. Grass silages require to be more finely chopped than maize or Sorghum. Wilted and dry forages and forage with hollow stems should be chopped more finely than forage of high moisture content, thus permitting more thorough packing and eliminating most air pockets Chopping
