Botryodiplodia rot: Botryodiplodia theobromae

Symptoms:

  • It causes considerable damage during storage and transit.
  • The affected fruits shoe brownish discolouration mostly at the stem-end which gradually proceeds downwards in an irregular wavy-manner.
  • In advanced stages, numerous, small pycnidia are produced over the entire surface of the fruit.
  • The rot is soft and watery.
  • Maximum decay occurs at 30°C.

Management:

  • Careful handling, storage at 150C and quick disposal can minimize the losses.
