            | Mulagumoodu  (Local Pala) It’s having less  moisture content, specific to the place “mulagumoodu’ of vilavancode Taluk,  Kanyakumari district. It is used as a parent in PPI -1 (pechiparai-1). The  fruits are firm fleshed and medium in size weighing about 7-10 kg. Patch  budding is done in 3-5 months old rootstock seedlings during January –February  and October-November was found to be very successful. In all the varieties of  jack during the pre bearing age, pulses are raised as intercrop and dried  leaves are spread below the trees to serve as mulch for moisture conservation.
 
 The type and bearing  habit is called “cauliflorus”. The fruit buds should be protected from any  positive damage by rubbing the body of the stray cattle such as buffaloes  through spreading dried thorny bushes. This is very essential especially when  there is no proper fence in the fields.
