1.Agricultural Mechanization Programme

Objectives

  • To promote mechanization in agriculture
  • To popularize the Agricultural Machinery / implements among the farmers
  • To meet out the shortage of agricultural labourers
  • To ensure timeliness in carrying out farm operations To supplement the available farm power

Details of Works

  • Subsidy assistance is provided to farmers for procuring Agricultural Machinery and implements such as Tractors, Power Tillers, Tractor drawn Rotavators etc.,

Eligibility

  • All Farmers

Tractor

  • 25% of the cost limited to Rs. 45000/- upto 40 HP

Power Tiller

  • 40% of the cost limited to Rs. 45000/- (8 HP & above)

Tractor drawn Rotavators

  • 40% of the cost limited to Rs. 20000/-

2.Command Area Development and Water Management Programme

Objectives

  • Bridging the gap between the irrigation potential created and utilized
  • Improving the water use efficiency in canal irrigated areas
  • Ensuring equity distribution of irrigation water from head reach to tail end
  • Ensuring Participatory Irrigation Management

Funding Pattern

  • It is a Shared Scheme between Central and State Governments with Farmers’Contribution.
  • The funding pattern prescribed in the CADWMP guidelines of Government of India is being followed and the details are given below

1.Rain Water Harvesting and Runoff Management Programme

Objectives

  • To increase the soil moisture regime of the watersheds
  • To Improving harvest rain water for surface water storage and for ground water recharge
  • To prevent soil erosion

Eligibility

  • All the farmers in the selected watersheds in the respective district

Power Tiller

  • 40% of the cost limited to Rs. 45000/- (8 HP & above)

Subsidy

  • Works in community lands are taken up with 100% grant. Beneficiaries are required to contribute 10% towards maintenance of the works in community lands in cash (it is 5% in case of SC/ST) which will be deposited in the name of the Village Development Association / Watershed )
  • The accrued interest will be utilized for the maintenance of the assets created
  • Works in remaining 10% is collected as beneficiary share in the form of Cash / labour /material (it is 5% in case of SC/ST)

2.Master plan - Artificial Recharge to Ground Water

Objectives

  • Conservation of Soil moisture in the soil profile
  • Percolation and recharge of ground water aquifers
  • Harvesting and storing surplus runoff at suitable location for recycled irrigation during critical periods

Objectives

Objectives

  • To maintain and restore the ecology of the Nilgiris district
  • To control soil erosion, soil loss and sedimentation.
  • To improve the socio economic condition of the local people.
  • To create public awareness on the benefits of the soil conservation works
  • Prevention of landslides

  • State Plan Scheme implemented with special Central Assistance from Union Planning Commission

9.Soil and Water Conservation under Western Ghats Development Programme

Objectives

  • To ensure eco-restoration, eco-development and eco-protection
  • To maintain ecological balance by controlling soil erosion
  • To create awareness of the necessity for protecting and developing the ecosystem among the farmers
  • Improvement of land capability and moisture regime in the watersheds
  • Economical upliftment of the local people

Subsidy

  • The beneficiaries are required to contribute 10% of the cost of works taken up in their patta lands and it is 5% in case of SC/ST beneficiaries
  • For community works, 5% of the cost of works is collected as beneficiary contribution
  • The balance expenditure is met by the Government

10.Agricultural Mechanization under the National Agriculture Development

Objectives

  • To achieve 4% annual growth in the agriculture sector during XI and XII Plan period by ensuring a holistic development of Agriculture and allied sectors

  • Providing subsidy assistance to farmers for the purchase of Agricultural Machinery/equipments/implements
  • High cost Farm Machinery / implements and Gender friendly equipments


Benefits offered

  • 50% subsidy assistance is provided to farmers for purchasing agricultural /equipments /implements
  • Subject to the ceiling limit prescribed for each machinery/implements and a maximum ceiling limit of Rs.4.00 lakhs topurchase high cost farm Machinery

  • Programme will be completed within the financial year

11.Formation of farmers group including free package of machinery and training on operation and maintenance of farm machinery

Objectives

  • To create a highly professional and motivated group for farming activities.
  • To reduce the drudgery of farm operations and to ensure timely farm operations.
  • To increase the food production and the income of the farmers
  • To promote the farm mechanization on “seed to seed” approach
  • To supplement the availability of farm power

  • Formation of farmers group including free package of farm machinery and imparting training
  • To the farmers groups on Operation and maintenance of machinery for paddy and pulses cultivation

  • Small, Marginal farmers and rural youth

Subsidy

  • To provide free package of machinery and meet out the shortage of farm labourers for taking up the farm operations in time

  • Programme will be completed within the financial year

12.Training Programme to rural youth on handling and maintenance of agricultural machinery and implements

Objectives

  • To impart training to rural youth in handling and maintenance of agricultural machinery.
  • To improve the quality of manpower engaged in the field of Agricultural Mechanisation .
  • To accelerate the pace of Agricultural Mechanisation in the State
  • To improve the skill development
  • To motivate the youth for the use of latest farm machinery / equipments /implements to increase agricultural production and productivity

13.Provision of Diesel Engine Pumpset with Rain gun / Portable Sprinkler Irrigation System for Critical Life Saving Supplemental Irrigation

Objectives

  • To give lifesaving supplementary irrigation to rainfed crops for avoiding total crop loss, utilizing rainwater harvested in farm ponds executed in the individual farmers field by Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department under MGNREGS scheme.
  • To sustain agricultural productivity and to improve the economic status of the farmers in rainfed areas through provision of diesel engine pumpsets with Rain gun / Portable irrigation systems at nominal rental charges.

  • 350 Blocks In Tamil Nadu State.

Details of Works

  • Construction of Farm Ponds by Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department under MGNREGS scheme.
  • Procurement of Diesel Engine with Rain gun irrigation System / Portable Sprinkler Irrigation System
  • Renting of these irrigation systems to the farmers at nominal rates to irrigate land with the water stored in the farm ponds


Eligibility

  • All the farmers whose lands are covered in the blocks selected

Subsidy

  • Provision of the irrigation systems consisting of Diesel engine pumpset and Raingun / Sprinkler irrigation system to the farmers at nominal rental charges

Scheme No.14

14.Provision of Solar Powered Pumping system linked with appropriate Micro Irrigation system (Drip / Micro / Mini Sprinklers) under NADP in various places of Tamil Nadu

Objectives

  • To provide energy security to the farmers for irrigating the crops with no recurring expenditure
  • To promote the use of Green Energy (non-conventional energy) in Agriculture sector.
  • To improve the water use efficiency using Micro irrigation techniques
  • To improve the Agricultural Production and Productivity

Funding Pattern

  • State Plan Scheme

Details of Works

  • Provision of 5 Hp AC Solar pumpsets with 4800 Wpcapacity with tracking system linked with appropriate Micro irrigation system to the farmers in all Districts of the state with 80% subsidy assistance to the farmers. (50% assistance from National Agricultural Development Programme and 30% Subsidy assistance from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy - Government of India)

Eligibility

  • All the farmers with assured water source (viz., Bore well, open well or other surface storage structure) suitable for erection of 5 Hp AC Solar pump set, for irrigating the crops through Micro irrigation system viz., Drip / Sprinklers


Subsidy

  • 80% subsidy assistance on the total cost of the Solar Powered pumping system will be provided to the eligible farmers.
  • Micro irrigation system will be given under ongoing scheme as per existing norms

Scheme No.15

15.Provision of Solar Chilli Drier under NADP in five major chilli growing various places of Tamil Nadu districts

Objectives

  • To reduce the time taken for drying of chillies and to reduce the post harvest losses.
  • To get quality produce without impairing colour and pungency thereby help the farmers realize better price through exports and selling quality produce in premium markets .

  • State Plan Scheme

Details of Works

  • 20 Nos. of Poly house tunnel type Solar Chilli drier @ Rs.2.00 Lakhs will be installed and handed over to the identified Chilli growing farmers group in the 5 major Chilli growing districts (4 nos. in each district) viz., Ramnad, Thoothukudi, .Sivaganga, Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli at 100% subsidy assistance to the group

16.Provision of Onion Storage structures (Natural Air Ventilated type) on pilot basis under NADP in 12 major onion growing districts

Objectives

  • To minimize storage losses and quality deterioration of onions arising in Conventional storage.
  • To help farmers get increased income, by avoiding distress sale as the price of onion is enhanced after the storage period

Details of Works

  • Onion Storage structures (Natural Air Ventilated type) of varying capacity viz., 5.0 M.T. to 20 M.T.
  • Based on the individual farmers’ demand will be provided at the farmers’ field at 50% subsidy assistance under National Agricultural Development Programme
  • The scheme is to be implemented in the 12 major onion growing districts viz., Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Namakkal and Thoothukudi

Eligibility

  • The willing onion growing farmers in the above districts on priority basis


Subsidy

  • 50% subsidy on the cost of the structure subject to a maximum of Rs. 4000/- M.T. will be provided to the individual farmers

Scheme No.17

17.World Bank aided Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernization and Water bodies Restoration and Management

Objectives

  • Improve the water use efficiency by propagating drip and sprinkler irrigation system.
  • The foremost objective of AED is to increase the income of the farming community.
  • The second objective is water savings and the third one is labour savings

Details of Works

  • Installation of Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation systems
  • Construction of Farm pond and rain water harvesting structure
  • Information, Education, communication and capacity building

Eligibility

  • All farmers in the 51 sub basins approved by the World Bank.

Implementation

  • The project is implemented in 51 sub basins for a period of 6 years from 1.4.2007 to 31.3.2013. The World Bank has extended the project up to 30.9.2015
